A company with a rich transcending history and years of experience Tahamar Enterprises specializes in ethanol (bio-fuel) and distillery products wherein the company produces ethanol from damaged food grain, for the purpose of blending with petroleum by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), IMFLs, country liquor, DDGS, and grain-based ENA.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, 5 June 2021, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi released the report of the Expert Committee on Roadmap for Ethanol Blending in India by 2025. The report details the numerous benefits 20% ethanol blending could bring including saving over Rs. 30,000 crores in foreign exchange per year, reduced carbon emissions, energy security, self-reliance, use of damaged foodgrains, increasing farmers' incomes, employment generation, and greater investment opportunities. This initiative was further brought up in discussion during the 2023 G20 summit held in India, where further push was given leading to the launch of the Global Biofuel Alliance (GBA). According to the Indian Biogas Association (IBA), the alliance is expected to foster various growth opportunities for India including the export of ethanol products, technology, and equipment. According to the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, the global ethanol market was valued at USD 99.06 billion in 2022 and is predicted to grow at a CAGR of 5.1% by 2032 and surpass USD 162.12 billion by 2032.

Tahmar Enterprises plans to support this global vision and has a present operational capacity of 45 KLPD of ENA per day. The company also has taken active steps to upgrade its present facilities installing the latest plant and machinery to optimize its efficiency. The manufacturing facility at Gadhinglaj is equipped with its own in-house laboratory led by a team of expert chemists and state-of-the-art facilities that allow for ethanol and liquor production.

The company is also steadfast about maintaining a zero wastage and eco-friendly business process. To do so the company has established its own water treatment and recycling unit. Tahmar Enterprises stands true to its vision statement and strives to continuously innovate, upgrade, and contribute back to society.

Ethanol

Ethanol, also called ethyl alcohol, gasohol, or power fuel, is a member of a class of organic compounds that are given the general name alcohols with a purity of 99.9%. Its molecular formula is C2H5OH. Ethanol is an important industrial chemical; it is used as a solvent, in the synthesis of other organic chemicals. It is used in the manufacture of various household products such as paints, lacquers, and varnish, as well as personal care and household cleaning products. It is also used as a food additive in food colouring, flavouring, curing, and processing. It is also used as an additive to automotive gasoline (forming a mixture known as a gasohol).

Grain Extra Neutral Alcohol (GENA)

Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) is the primary raw material for making alcoholic beverages. It is a colourless food-grade alcohol that does not have any impurities. It has a neutral smell and taste and typically contains over 95 percent alcohol by volume. It is derived from different sources — sugarcane molasses and grains — and is used in the production of alcoholic beverages such as whisky, vodka, gin, cane, liqueurs, and alcoholic fruit beverages. ENA also serves as an essential ingredient in the manufacture of cosmetics and personal care products such as perfumes, toiletries, hair spray, etc. Given its properties as a good solvent, ENA also finds industrial use and is utilized in the production of some lacquers, paints, and ink for the printing industry, as well as in pharmaceutical products such as antiseptics, drugs, syrups, medicated sprays.

Dried Distillers Grain Solids (DDGS)

Dried Distillers Grain Solids (DDGS) is a by-product of the distillation process. It is a rich source of protein used for animal feed. The plant produces DDGS with a protein content of around 50%. Distillers extract the starch from grains to process into alcohol and the nutrients that are left over largely comprise essential proteins, fat, and vitamins that are a good source for poultry and cattle feed.

Distillers Wet Grains Soluble (DWGS)

Distillers Wet Grains Soluble (DWGS) is another by-product of the distillation process. DWGS is also termed “Wet Cake” in the industry. The residue is used as aquatic feed including shrimp and prawn feed, and poultry and cattle feed.

Indian Made Foreign Liquors (IMFL)

Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) is the official term referring to all types of liquor manufactured in the country other than indigenous alcoholic beverages such as feni, toddy, arrack, and others. IMFL is produced locally using the conventional technique of fermenting grain mash. Blenders bring distinction to the alcohol by controlling the flavour, distillation, and blend. The IMFL is a fast-growing segment, with volumes growing at 14% in FY23 and making up over 70% of the Indian spirits market.

Premium Country Liquor

Premium Country liquor refers to distilled spirits made from local ingredients. Country liquor, according to the BIS standards, is rectified Grade I spirit or any neutral spirit that may be obtained from fermented molasses, grain, or any other source of fermentable carbohydrates. They undergo a similar distillation process as IMFL, but differ in terms of strength (the percentage of alcohol) and flavours.

Coal Ash

Coal ash is a product residue that is generated during the boiling process. With the aim of zero wasteage, this coal ash is sold to construction companies where it is used as material for the manufacture of bricks, cement, and wallboards (also known as drywall).

Alcohol Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer (also known as antiseptic, disinfectant, or hand rub) is a liquid, gel, or foam generally used to kill many viruses/bacteria/microorganisms. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer that is at least 60% (v/v) alcohol in water. In most healthcare settings, alcohol-based hand sanitizers are preferable to hand washing with soap and water, because it may be better tolerated and is more effective at reducing bacteria.
